Clock warning
Agricultural producers and transporters warn that they will block access to the stadiums where the 2026 World Cup matches will be held. The measure would be activated if the federal government does not respond to their request, which includes fair prices for crops and the payment of debts.
“We have already said it repeatedly, we want the debt owed to us by the producers of sorghum, corn, wheat, among other grains, to be paid, but also that transporters be given security on roads throughout the country,” said Eliborio Héctor Peña de León, leader of the Municipal Association of Rural Owners (AMPR) of Río Bravo.
Negotiations in progress
Peña de León confirmed that talks have already begun at the Ministry of the Interior with representatives of several federal agencies, such as Agriculture and CONAGUA. Leaders of the National Front for the Rescue of the Mexican Countryside and the National Association of Transporters also participate.
“Here we are supporting the mega-march that is taking place in the country’s capital, which started from the Angel of Independence and now we are in front of the Government Secretariat, waiting for a positive response,” he added.
Mothers searching for the missing and members of the Hat Movement, originally from Michoacán, joined the protest. The group demands that the structural problems of the countryside and insecurity on the roads be resolved before the 2026 World Cup.
