Armed attack on the Puebla-Tehuacán highway
Two collaborators of the singer Memo Garza were injured during an attempted assault recorded in the early hours of June 28. The artist and his team were returning from a presentation in Tlaxcala when they were intercepted by an armed commando.
According to an official statement, the events occurred at the height of the Xonacatepec bridge, on the Puebla-Tehuacán highway. The truck in which they were traveling was hit multiple times by bullets.
“We will be communicating in a timely manner any update on his health status and the development of the situation,” the group said.
Fortunately, the injuries are not serious. As a consequence, Garza canceled the concert he had scheduled for this Sunday. The new date has not been reported.
Who is Memo Garza?
Originally from Cadereyta, Nuevo León, he rose to fame as the vocalist of La Adictiva, a group he joined in 2014 and where he remained for almost a decade. With her he performed hits like “After you, who?”, “El viejón” and “Te will tell you.”
In 2023 he announced his departure to start a solo career. He has released songs like “Retornable”, “Chulada” and “Mándame la Ubi”. So far, no people have been arrested for the attack.
