Condolences and family ties
The musician Cruz Martínez, founder of Kumbia Kings, faces the loss of his mother, María de los Ángeles Martínez. He shared the news on Instagram with family images. Among the hundreds of messages of support, those from Melenie Carmona and Arturo Carmona, who maintain a close relationship with him, stood out.
Melenie, daughter of Alicia Villarreal and Arturo Carmona, grew up with Cruz Martínez from the age of two, when her mother married the musician. Despite the couple’s separation last year, she made it clear that he will always be her family. In his message he wrote:
“A warrior Mrs. Gela until the last moment! I am sure she left this world proud of the five incredible children she raised, her love and legacy will live on forever, I love you to the moon and back!!”
Arturo Carmona, Melenie’s biological father, also expressed his regret. He publicly acknowledged the education Cruz gave his daughter and sent condolences:
“My deepest condolences, dear Cruz. A big hug to the entire family, may God soon bring comfort and strength. Doña Gela from heaven will continue to care for you with all her love.”
Other figures in the media joined in the condolences, such as Chris Pérez, Ricardo Muñoz, Lalo Elizondo and Fernando Domínguez III. However, a notable absence was that of Alicia Villarreal. The singer maintains a restraining order against her ex-husband and a complaint for family, physical, psychological and patrimonial violence, as well as attempted femicide. For this reason, he had no contact with Cruz after the news.
