Carlo Ancelotti, Brazil coach, recognized his team’s progress after the 3-0 victory over Haiti in the 2026 World Cup. The Italian coach pointed out that, despite the victory, there are aspects to polish before the closing of Group C against Scotland.
“I think we played better than in the first match. The quality of our football improved. We generated more opportunities, we were more effective in attack and we had better defensive control,” declared Ancelotti.
Matheus Cunha scored a double and Vinícius Júnior scored the other goal. Brazil became the leader of the group on goal difference, after a 1-1 draw against Morocco in the debut.
Collective performance and adjustments
Ancelotti highlighted the defensive solidity and balance of the midfield with Casemiro, Bruno Guimaraes and Lucas Paquetá. He also praised Cunha, although he avoided assuring him ownership. “He has the ability to play in several offensive positions,” he commented.
The 67-year-old coach admitted that Brazil must remain calm and work in the coming days, especially after seeing two goals disallowed for offside.
“We must remain calm, continue working and make the necessary adjustments in the coming days,” he said.
Regarding the low intensity in the second half, Ancelotti clarified: “I don’t think it was a physical issue. The level of competitiveness may not have been the same as in the first half, but that is normal in football.”
Full focus on Scotland
Brazil will face Scotland on June 24. Ancelotti avoided thinking about direct elimination: “We are not thinking about the next stage. We are thinking about Scotland. We want to improve, win the game and try to finish first in the group.”
The coach showed confidence in the team’s potential: “I think we can compete with any team. Whether it’s Haiti or France, we have the quality to do it.”
Brazil seeks to secure first place in Group C to advance to the knockout phase.
