AMD presents its comprehensive vision of artificial intelligence at Advancing AI 2025
At the Advancing AI 2025 event, held at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, AMD unveiled its most ambitious strategy to date: an end-to-end AI platform designed to transform the technological landscape. Lisa Su, CEO of AMD and one of the most influential figures in the industry, led the presentation, highlighting the company’s position as a key player in the evolution of artificial intelligence.
New accelerators and scalable solutions
The event served as the stage for the launch of the AMD Instinct MI350 Series accelerators, optimized for the so-called agent AI. These units offer four times the performance compared to the previous generation, marking a milestone in the processing of complex models. According to Su, “AMD is accelerating innovation in AI at a historic pace”, reinforcing its commitment to technological advancement.
In addition, AMD presented a rack-scale AI infrastructure, based on open standards and integrated with EPYC 5th generation processors and Pensando Pollara network cards. This solution is already being implemented in hyperscale environments, such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), demonstrating its ability to support massive workloads.
Looking to the future, the company announced the AMD “Helios” AI Rack Scale solution, which will combine next-generation technologies to establish a new paradigm in performance. He anticipated that this platform, available in 2026, will consolidate AMD’s leadership “in industrial-scale AI beyond 2027.”
Commitment to the open ecosystem and inference
AMD reinforced its commitment to collaboration with the launch of ROCm 7.0 and the Cloud Access Program for Developers. These initiatives reflect the company’s philosophy: shared innovation and open standards. Dr. Su highlighted that billions of users rely on AMD technology every day, from platforms like Microsoft Office 365 to streaming services like Netflix.
One of the central themes of the presentation was the explosive growth of inference in AI, which Su projected an annual increase of 80% in the coming years. Agentic AI—autonomous systems capable of making decisions—will be the driving force behind this expansion, generating unprecedented demand for specialized hardware. “We are adding billions of virtual users to the global infrastructure,” Su explained, underscoring the economic and technological impact of this trend.
A market in constant evolution
The data center AI accelerator market will exceed $500 billion by 2028, according to AMD projections. His anticipated massive fragmentation, with hundreds of thousands of models specialized for specific tasks. “Each industry and use case will have its own optimized solution,” he concluded, highlighting the importance of flexibility and adaptability in this scenario.
