What happened to the legend
Sir Alex Ferguson, the historic manager of Manchester United, had to leave the stadium before the opening whistle on Sunday. He felt unwell and was taken to the hospital for preventive check-ups. Yes, it’s scary, but don’t worry: it wasn’t an emergency.
“He is conscious and they are doing preventive checks,” reported Sky Sports, owner of the broadcast.
The BBC confirmed that it was not a life or death thing. The 84-year-old Scot already experienced a difficult situation in 2018, when a brain hemorrhage led him to emergency surgery. But he recovered like the champion he is.
Details of the scare
Ferguson had been at Old Trafford since early in the morning, he even took a photo in the stadium that he posted online. But before the game, something didn’t add up. His representative and United have not released statements yet.
For those who did not grow up seeing his greatness: this man won 13 Premier League titles and 2 Champions League in 26 and a half years. In total, 28 important trophies with United. He retired in 2013, after winning his last league title.
I hope it’s just one more scare. Health comes first, always. But if Ferguson taught us anything, it is that the claw does not retire.
