Mexican airline Aeroméxico announced its plan to resume the direct route between Mexico City and Caracas, Venezuela. The service, which will connect the Mexico City International Airport with the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, is in the process of authorization by the aeronautical authorities of both countries.
Reactivation details
The restart of operations is scheduled for October 2026, although the date depends on regulatory approval. Aeroméxico will use Boeing 737 MAX aircraft for this route. The company seeks to strengthen its presence in South America, where it currently operates nine connections.
Context of the suspension
Aeroméxico suspended its flights to Caracas in 2016. At that time, the complex economic environment in Venezuela made operations difficult, especially the repatriation of income. The decision to return responds, according to the company, to a change in market conditions.
Impact on connectivity
With this route, Aeroméxico would add its tenth destination in South America, expanding its network to countries such as Colombia, Chile, Peru, Brazil and Argentina. The direct route would meet market demand between both countries and reduce connection times.
The airline did not specify the frequency of flights or estimated fares, but noted that planning remains subject to official permits.
