The joke that didn’t please everyone
Adrián Marcelo turned the networks back on. This time, not with a sketch, but with a comment about the operation that ended the life of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, ‘El Mencho’. On Sunday, the comedian asked his followers a question on X: should he be worried about what happened to the leader of the CJNG?
His message, which mentioned the possible continuity of the drug business in clubs and the proximity of the World Cup, triggered a wave of reactions. For some it was a tasteless mockery of the capo’s death. For others, simply his brand of acidic humor. Hours later, he deleted the tweet, but the debate was already over.
The provocation that escalated
But Adrián didn’t stop there. He raised the tone with another publication where he assured that “living in Mexico is supporting organized crime.” Their argument: daily activities would have indirect links with illicit structures.
“Did you vote for a politician in Michoacán? Did you eat at a seafood restaurant in Mazatlán? Did you get into a taxi in Cancún? Did you buy a bill in Monterrey? Did you smoke pot in CDMX? Did you bribe a transit in Guadalajara? Did you go to an after-hours party at a place after hours? Did you go to Tulum? Did you go to Palenque in Aguascalientes? Do you listen to corridos tumbados? Did you go to the León Fair or Cd. Juárez? Congratulations, you also supported the CO”,
He wrote in Monterrey, using synonyms for sensitive terms.
Closing his intervention, he included a reference to those who seek to generate guilt for the consumption of certain substances and concluded by saying that the country will continue to be what it is, with or without individual participation. A monologue that mixes black humor, social criticism and that calculated provocation that defines his character.
The conversation continues to spread through the networks. Scathing criticism or simple provocation to generate engagement? In the digital public theater, Adrián Marcelo knows that sometimes the most uncomfortable joke is the one that contains the most truth.
