What a night in Lamine!
The Camp Nou vibrated this Saturday with the scoring debut of its most precious jewel. Lamine Yamal, at only 18 years and 230 days old, scored the first hat trick of his career in Barcelona’s resounding victory (4-1) over Villarreal.
It wasn’t just any hat-trick. According to Opta, he became the youngest player to achieve this in La Liga. A fact that speaks of the enormous talent he has between his feet.
The nicest thing is listening to him after the game. He comes from going through a personal rough patch, but now he is back to being him.
“For a week or so I feel much better, I get that desire to smile on the grass that I haven’t had for a long time and I am very happy, now I am happy playing,” Yamal confessed.
His second goal was a work of art. Cut from the right wing, dribble past a defender and a left-footed shot into the far corner. Pure quality.
Hansi Flick, his coach, summed it up perfectly: > “He is exceptional and he is here to make people happy.”
With this victory, Barça remains four points ahead at the top. Madrid, second, plays this Monday against Getafe with the option of closing the gap.
The fight from below gets interesting
In other fields, there was movement. Atlético de Madrid rose to third place thanks to Julián Álvarez’s goal in the final minutes against Oviedo (0-1). They share points with Villarreal.
Athletic tied 1-1 in Vallecas with a goal from Iñaki Williams, and Real Sociedad beat Mallorca by the minimum.
The League is defined week by week. And this one, without a doubt, will be named after Lamine Yamal.
