The great air deal receives the green light
Volaris shareholders gave a unanimous yes. In an extraordinary meeting, with a massive participation of 93.7%, they approved the business combination with Grupo Viva Aerobus. There was not a single vote against.
This support represents a crucial milestone on the path to creating a single Mexican airline group. The idea is to form a holding company that brings them together, but allowing each one to operate with its own brand.
“Volaris will continue working to complete the transaction, subject to regulatory authorizations and the corresponding closing conditions,” the company said in an official statement.
What are they looking for with this play?
The stated objective is clear: expand air transport and strengthen connectivity, both within Mexico and abroad. They promise to keep travel low, attract capital for growth and achieve a more efficient cost structure.
Now, the process enters a decisive phase. The ball is in the regulators’ court. If they give their approval, the panorama of the Mexican skies will change forever. The birth of a giant is approaching.
