Madrid continues rolling with Valverde on fire
Federico Valverde doesn’t stop. The Uruguayan was once again key this Saturday, scoring his fifth goal in three games as Real Madrid crushed Elche 4-1. His curling shot from the edge of the area just before the break doubled the lead.
But this is no coincidence. He has seven goals since the start of the year, becoming the trusted man when he is needed most. With Mbappé and Bellingham injured, Valverde has raised his hand.
“It doesn’t surprise me because I know what Federico Valverde is capable of,” said Brahim Díaz. “It’s an honor to have him as a teammate; I’m sure that if he keeps shooting, he’ll score many more goals.”
A goal to remember
If Valverde’s goal was important, the fourth was pure spectacle. Arda Güler, in the 89th minute, shot from MORE THAN 10 METERS behind the midfield line. The ball bounced and went over goalkeeper Dituro. A great goal that closes a great afternoon.
The victory keeps Madrid one point behind Barcelona, who plays this Sunday. Rüdiger opened the scoring and Huijsen added the third before an own goal from Manuel Ángel.
The mind is already in Manchester
Now it’s time to change the chip. On Tuesday they travel to England for the return match against Manchester City in the Champions League. They won the first leg 3-0 – with a hat trick from Valverde – and are looking for their place in the quarterfinals.
The big doubt is Kylian Mbappé. Álvaro Arbeloa confirmed that he remains a doubt for the match:
“Tomorrow we are going to do training… we are going to test Kylian Mbappé and I will talk to him to see how he is,” commented the coach.
The Frenchman has not played since February due to a problem in his left knee that has bothered him since December. Your presence would be a great boost.

Meanwhile, Atlético de Madrid beat Getafe 1-0 with an early goal from Nahuel Molina. The colchoneros played against ten after Abdel Abqar was sent off for inappropriately touching Sorloth.
In other games, bottom club Real Oviedo beat Valencia 1-0 to keep their hopes alive, and Girona defeated Athletic 3-0 at home.
