Trump’s pendulum: today yes, tomorrow no, the day after maybe
Oh, what a surprise. Donald Trump, the man who could make a peace treaty in one tweet and tear it up in the next, has decided that the United States must send more weapons to Ukraine. Yes, the same one who a few days ago ordered a pause in shipments because, according to him, American reserves were “too low.” Did you run out of stock or did you just remember that there’s a war going on? Who knows. The important thing is that now, between canapes at a dinner with Netanyahu, he has solemnly declared: “We have to do it.” Thank you, Captain Obvious!
The Pentagon, between a rock and a hard place (and missiles)
Meanwhile, the Pentagon still hasn’t explained whether it will resume shipments of Patriot missiles, Hellfires and other explosive things that Ukraine needs to avoid becoming a lunar landscape. Because, of course, what better time for a logistical pause than when Russia is launching 1,270 drones, 39 missiles and almost 1,000 bombs in a week? Excellent timing, gentlemen. While Zelenskyy pleads for more air defense, Trump simply says that he is “not happy with Putin at all.” Wow, what a powerful statement. The Kremlin is sure to tremble.
And speaking of Russia, the Transportation Minister was found dead in an “apparent suicide” (yes, in quotes, because in Russia that can mean anything from an accident to poisoned tea). The official reason? Nobody knows. The unofficial one? An investigation into diversion of funds intended for fortifications in Kursk. Come on, the Russian trenches are as solid as a sand castle, and Ukraine realized it in August 2024. Who would have imagined?
Ukraine: between drones and desperation
Meanwhile, on the front, Ukraine is trying to make up for its troop shortage with drones. Zelenskyy has announced deals to produce “hundreds of thousands” more this year. Because, apparently, the strategy now is to win the war with technology and not with cannon fodder. Although, seeing the Russian attacks against recruitment centers, it seems that Putin is not happy with the idea.
In summary: Trump changes his mind faster than an influencer in crisis, Russia continues to play dirty, and Ukraine tries to survive among drones and broken promises. Conclusion? Nobody knows what will happen tomorrow, but today, at least, we have another chapter of this geopolitical circus.
