The fight that does not end: from the kiss in the ring to the accusation
Last Sunday, the Monterrey Arena witnessed something that only the universe of Mexican entertainment can offer. Alfredo Adame and Carlos Trejo, the author of “Cañitas”, got into the ring for Poncho de Nigris’ Ring Royale 2026.
The result was a knockout for Adame, the “Golden Boy.” But what happened next is the real soap opera.
After the fight, the rivals hugged each other… and even a kiss in the ring. The moment went viral instantly. It seemed like the happy ending to an absurd and wonderful rivalry.
But Trejo had one last play in store. In recent interviews, the “Ghostbusters” dropped the bomb: he claims that Adame’s victory is a fraud.
“They can’t give the win to someone who did wrong. It was a prohibited blow, which is prohibited in a boxing fight,” declared Trejo.
According to him, the decisive blow was illegal and the referee did not sanction it. The juiciest thing came later, when he recounted his conversation with the organizer.
“If Poncho says ‘leave it like that’, then leave it like that… you’re fine, stupid, because it was a forbidden hit. You gave a belt to someone who didn’t win,” Trejo launched against De Nigris.
The author made it clear that he does not care about the belt or public opinion. His point is simple: the images show the illegality of the coup and that, for him, taints the result.
So we have everything. A surreal combat, a viral moment of fake reconciliation and now, a controversy that smells of revenge. Ring Royale 2026 gave more material to cut than anyone expected.
The ball is now in Adame and De Nigris’ court. Will they respond? Or better yet… will there be a second part?
