Sanctions for more than 777 million pesos
The Anti-Corruption and Good Government Secretariat, together with the Federal Court of Administrative Justice (TFJA), applied disciplinary measures to 27 public servants. The sanctions include disqualifications of up to 10 years and fines totaling more than 777 million pesos.
The resolutions derive from investigations in agencies such as the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), Food for Wellbeing (AliBien), the Ministry of the Interior (Segob) and the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).
The most serious case occurred in AliBien. Four former officials received a decade-long disqualification and a joint and several fine of 777.8 million pesos. They improperly used resources from the Guaranteed Prices for Basic Food Products program and applied them to unauthorized programs.
In other institutions – CFE, Segob and IMSS – one-year disqualifications were imposed for irregularities such as mishandling of resources and theft of assets. In addition, the Anti-Corruption Secretariat detailed non-serious misconduct in Pemex, National Guard, SSPC and SICT.
The authorities indicated that the sanctions respect the law and the principle of proportionality. Those affected can challenge the resolutions. The government reiterated its call to denounce illegal acts and reaffirmed its commitment against corruption.
