When the girls rule: the TRI U-15 makes history (and it hurts rivals)
Stand up, ladies and gentlemen, because the cracks of women’s football have just given a masterclass. The U-15 Women’s National Team, those teenagers who probably combine training with algebra homework, were crowned champions of the Women’s Super Cup 2025 with a resounding 1-0 against the IME (which, in case you didn’t know, means “Institute for Mexicans Abroad”, that is, the team of those who left but could not escape the Mexican talent).
Goals, glory and… geometry?
The match was more tense than a group of parents on WhatsApp discussing the Teacher’s Day gift. But in the end, ours showed that on the field you play with your feet, not with your resume. The decisive goal – which will surely remain engraved in the collective memory along with the viral memes of the moment – was the work of a player whose name will soon be on all the shirts (and in the scouting reports of international teams, because that’s how this works).
And be careful, this tournament wasn’t just about handing out medals and taking photos with the trophy (although, let’s be honest, that’s always a plus). The real objective was to detect the next stars among girls aged 13 to 15. Yes, the same ones who in a few years could be signing autographs while the rest of us continue looking for the lost socks in the washing machine.
Speaking of the future: if this is what you can do at 15, imagine what’s coming. The message is clear: women’s soccer in Mexico not only exists, but it comes with a generation that plays without complexes and is hungry for more. What if it is too early to talk about global projection? Maybe. But if sport has taught us anything, it is that great legends begin with triumphs like this.
Moral of the day: Never underestimate a girl with drive and determination. The IME learned this the hard way, and the rest of the world should take note.
