The municipal treasurer of Tulum, Vicente Francisco Aldape Moncada, was secured at the Cancun International Airport by elements of the National Guard. The arrest occurred at 6:10 a.m. on July 2 in Terminal 2, in an operation coordinated with federal authorities, without additional incidents. The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) had requested his capture, according to the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection.
The municipal government of Tulum confirmed the fact and indicated that Aldape was carrying one or two firearms at the time of his arrest. The investigation was carried out by the FGR.
Background of the official
The treasurer previously served as coordinator of advisors for the municipal Treasury in 2022, when the current councilor held the position of treasurer. His arrest joins other recent cases of municipal officials investigated in Tulum, amid allegations of alleged acts of corruption and internal administrative movements, including dismissals in areas such as Civil Protection and Inspection.
