Can you imagine Michael Scott in a pitched battle?
Well, stop imagining it. The rumors were true: The Office is now in Fortnite. The latest epic video game collaboration brings Dunder Mifflin’s most chaotic employees straight to Battle Royale.
The key clue came on January 20: a photo on Instagram with beets and the text “Construction. Beets. Battle Royale”. A direct nod to the series’ most famous in-joke about Dwight’s beet farm.
Bosses take control
The skins available are Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute, with a physical resemblance that is almost disturbing. They are not generic versions; They are Steve Carell and Rainn Wilson pixelated, maintaining the entire essence of the show.
Each skin costs 1,500 V-Bucks, but you can buy the full package with 12 themed items for 3,500. And there are objects:
- Michael comes with his date cap and sunglasses.
- Dwight has an option with and without a jacket… and the CPR dummy mask from the episode ‘Stress Relief’!
- “World’s Best Boss” mug backpack.
- Faceless doll backpack (a perfect macabre detail).
- Parachute that is a messy desk.
- Spikes that are a used broom and Michael’s trophy.
Also includes two emotes: “The Scarn” dance from Threat Level Midnight and Dwight’s little lead car.
As if that were not enough, each character will have their LEGO version and themed shoes called “The Office Kicks.” The collaboration is now available in store starting this Friday.
And this doesn’t stop here. Following this nostalgic-millennial streak, skins for “Ed, Edd and Eddy” and “One More Show” are expected to arrive soon. It seems that Epic Games decided to directly plunder our collective memory of Saturday mornings.
It’s funny: we go from watching these series on TV to having their characters eliminate us in a video game. The zeitgeist is a strange place, but at least we can do it by dancing to The Scarn.
