Giant screens at the Centennial to experience the World Cup
The governor of Tabasco, Javier May Rodríguez, announced that Tabasco families will be able to enjoy the inauguration of the 2026 Soccer World Cup and the debut of the Mexican National Team for free. The broadcast will be on giant screens installed at the Centenario February 27 baseball stadium.
The president explained that the State Government paid the corresponding fees to the organizing organizations. This allows both the opening ceremony and the three group stage matches in Mexico to be broadcast legally and free of charge. The first will be against South Africa.
“We pay those rights to be able to broadcast all these events, so it is covered. Tomorrow, which is the inauguration, all the staff are already requesting us, but we are going to give them permission so that they can watch the inauguration and the game…” — Javier May Rodríguez.
A call to coexistence
May Rodríguez invited citizens to attend and experience the passion of football. “Everyone is invited to enjoy. And tomorrow we all have to put on our shirts,” he stressed.
He added that some City Councils will also hold projections in public squares so that more people can follow the meetings.
Regarding complaints from businessmen about restrictions on showing matches in businesses, the governor clarified that the issue is regulated by FIFA. The international organization maintains strict guidelines on broadcast rights and has warned of sanctions for those who violate them. The state government distances itself from these private regulations.
The action seeks to promote coexistence and joy among Tabasco residents during the World Cup atmosphere.
