The lingerie promotion that could cost Sydney Sweeney dearly
It looks like Sydney Sweeney’s latest marketing campaign crossed the line, literally. The Euphoria actress scaled the iconic Hollywood sign to hang underwear as part of the launch of her new line. The problem is that, according to the authorities, they did not have permission to do so.
TMZ obtained the video where Sweeney is seen climbing at night with his team. Once at the top, they installed a clothesline full of fasteners over the white letters. The nighttime photo shoot had everything to go viral, but now it’s a legal headache.
“No permission was granted to do this, as required”,
declared the president of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to TMZ. It turns out that the production did have authorization to film the poster… but only from afar. Touching or climbing it was explicitly prohibited.
Most of the lingerie was removed after the shooting, although some pieces were left hanging. An investigation is now underway and Sweeney could face vandalism and trespassing charges.
“We continue to investigate how and under what authority the Sweeney production accessed the site,”
they added from the organization that owns the monument.
Until now, neither the actress nor her team have said anything about it. Meanwhile, the internet is already divided between those who see it as an advertising genius and those who consider it an attack on a cultural symbol.
The truth is, this risky move to promote lingerie could end up costing you more than a few bras.
