Another ‘no’ for Ye: Switzerland closes the door
Kanye West’s European tour is crumbling like a house of cards. The last to tell him that it is not is FC Basel, the Swiss soccer club that owns the St. Jakob-Park stadium where Ye had a show scheduled for June.
The reason? Pure and tough. The team reviewed the request and decided it was not “in line with our values.” Spot. There were no half measures.
“We cannot offer a platform to the artist in this context”,
They released him to Reuters. And be careful, this stadium does rent for concerts normally. But with Ye they made a very clear exception.
This is not an isolated case. It is a pattern that is repeated throughout the map.
- Poland: Canceled last Friday at the Śląski Stadium in Chorzów for “formal and legal” reasons. Polish Culture Minister Marta Cienkowska was more direct about X: she called it “unacceptable.”
- United Kingdom: He couldn’t even enter the country for the Wireless Festival.
- France: The Minister of the Interior analyzes how to stop his show in Marseille. The mayor has already said that he does not want the city as a “showcase for those who promote hate.”
The shadow is long and well known: the anti-Semitic comments, the glorification of Nazi symbols, that t-shirt with the swastika he sold, the song “Heil Hitler” from last year… He himself said that he “worshipped the Nazis.”
The consequences are real. Broken commercial contracts, followers who leave, and now doors that close one after another in what should be their return to the stage.
It seems that Europe is drawing a very clear red line. And Ye, for now, is staying on the wrong side.
