The wedding of the century
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce would marry this Friday at Madison Square Garden, according to a security source with knowledge of the plans. There would be a smaller rehearsal dinner on Thursday. The information was shared anonymously because the person was not authorized to speak publicly.
The rumors have exploded in recent days. Weeks of unconfirmed reports pointed to the July 4 weekend at one of New York’s iconic venues.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani confirmed Wednesday that a permit has been filed for a “large event” at Madison Square Garden. “We are fully prepared. There is nothing to share beyond that,” he declared.
Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said the department “of course will have an operation in place,” but avoided further details. In a briefing, he mentioned, “I would be remiss if I didn’t mention an event we’re tracking at Madison Square Garden on Friday night.”
This week crews were seen unloading equipment from trucks outside the arena. A large rug was briefly displayed in an entryway and then immediately removed.
The couple has not made any statements. Swift’s rep also did not respond to requests for comment, including one on Wednesday. The uncertainty keeps fans and authorities in suspense, who are already adjusting their security measures for the event.
