A call for moderation
Priest Alejandro Solalinde sent a direct message to the CNTE teaching movement: abandon acts of vandalism and focus their actions on a peaceful defense of their labor demands.
Through his account on X, Solalinde acknowledged that the cause of the teaching profession may be legitimate, but warned that the leadership must understand that “the end does not justify the means.” According to him, practices such as vandalism and blackmail damage the credibility of the movement.
The religious also asked the teachers to show solidarity with Mexico in the current political context. He affirmed that citizens support President Claudia Sheinbaum and urged people to avoid actions that could generate social confrontation.
Divided reactions
The statements generated mixed opinions on social networks. Some users recalled episodes in which Solalinde had supported teacher protests; others supported his call for moderation.
So far, the CNTE has not issued an official position regarding the allegations. The union keeps its mobilizations active in different parts of the country, as part of its day of protest.
