President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed this Friday that she is looking for Merlin the duck and his owner to take them to the morning conference. The bird went viral for its presence at World Cup events.
“Look at this issue of Merlin the duck, which may seem somewhat minor; I’m going to invite her (her owner), her name is Karla, to bring Merlin here in the morning. It talks about how we Mexicans are,” he declared from the National Palace.
Sheinbaum noted that the duck has become a symbol of national culture. He even mentioned that photographs of ducks wearing Canadian team jerseys are already being sold. “It is a small symbol of our culture of how we are,” he added.
World Cup without setbacks
Regarding the organization of the World Cup, the president assured that “there has not been any problem.” He highlighted the behavior of the fans: “The Mexican fans acting like a 10.” He also described the security operation as “very good.”
“What is happening in Mexico is a message to the world: come and experience Mexico,” Sheinbaum concluded.
