A presidential hug for Mexican mothers
President Claudia Sheinbaum did not let Mother’s Day pass without sending a direct message to the heart. From her networks, she congratulated all the mothers in the country and put the spotlight on something that often goes unnoticed: care work.
“I sincerely wish that all Mexican mothers receive every day the love, joy and happiness they deserve. May the happiness that you have sown every day return multiplied in hugs, smiles and beautiful moments with those you love most,” he wrote.
But he didn’t stop at just the emotional speech. Sheinbaum went further: he assured that “it is women’s time” and that we must “recognize, share and value the care work they do every day.” For her, that is “the best way to love, to be grateful and to build a fairer and happier Mexico for everyone.”
Actions that support the words
And while many only send greetings, the president also made a move on the ground. This morning, from Cajeme, Sonora, the Women’s Welfare Pensions will be delivered. A gesture that, more than symbolic, seeks to put resources where they are needed most: in the hands of those who sustain daily life.
It will be there, celebrating with the mothers who attend. Because, as she says, recognizing invisible work is the first step to building a more just country.
