Claudia Sheinbaum presents “Salud Casa por Casa” in San Luis Potosí
The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, led in San Luis Potosí the assembly of the “Health House by House” program, an initiative that she described as the most ambitious worldwide in terms of medical care and prevention. During the event, he highlighted the fundamental role of health professionals, especially nurses, who will be the pillars of this strategy.
Key objectives of the program
The project, presented at the Family Medicine Unit No. 45 of the IMSS, focuses on three main axes:
- Priority attention to older adults and people with disabilities, recognizing their experience and wisdom.
- Early prevention of diseases through timely diagnoses.
- Close governance, based on a participatory model that involves communities.
Sheinbaum explained that the first phase consisted of a national census carried out by the Ministry of Welfare, while the second stage will include monthly visits by nursing staff to update digital medical records. This system will benefit approximately 14 million people in vulnerable situations.
Benefits and scope
Among the advantages of the program are:
- Personalized medical follow-up, with periodic home consultations.
- Free telephone advice for emergencies or medical questions.
