In Michoacán, more than 1.3 million receive support from the federal government
The figure was announced by the Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel Reyes, during an event in Lázaro Cárdenas headed by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. It is a number that speaks for itself: more than one million 326 thousand people in the state are direct beneficiaries of some of the social programs.
For this year, the budgeted investment for this support in the entity exceeds 40 billion pesos. A substantial amount that seeks to reach every corner.
A comprehensive plan: beyond security
From the Michoacán port, Sheinbaum broke down the multiple aspects of the Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice. His speech was not limited to actions against violence. He proposed it as a comprehensive strategy where social and economic development is the first front.
“And that is why in the Michoacán Plan we decided to promote credits for the countryside, support for forest management, expand the Sembrando Vida program, give special prices for corn and lentil producers,”
the president detailed. The list is long and ambitious: electrification, free internet, boosting tourism, more places for Youth Building the Future, construction of highways and rural roads, investment in drinking water, more high schools and hospitals.
The central message is that the government is going to be close. “We are visiting all the houses in the state,” he stated, linking this territorial presence with a Security Strategy that, he assures, is giving results.
The data behind the speech
Sheinbaum appealed to national figures to support his management. He recalled that, according to his data, the daily average of intentional homicides has decreased by 40 percent since the beginning of his government.
He also made a broad socioeconomic assessment: he mentioned that 13.5 million Mexicans escaped povertyduring what he calls the Fourth Transformation, attributing it to the increase in the minimum wage and social programs.
For this administration – the so-called Second Floor – new tools have been added: the Women’s Wellbeing Pension, the Rita Cetina Scholarship and Health House by House. For Michoacán, the Gertrudis Bocanegra Scholarship stood out especially, designed to support university students in the state with transportation.
Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla thanked the implementation of the plan. The event also served for Sheinbaum to send a greeting to the Michoacans in the United States and reiterate a clear diplomatic position: coordination with Washington “without subordination” and defending a sovereignty that “is not in negotiation”.
At the end of the day, the images of the delivery of support cards in Lázaro Cárdenas seek to project an active, present government with a multidimensional offer for a complex state like Michoacán. The bet is clear: combine strength in security with an expansive social welfare network.
