Tomorrow they will stand up for the operations against stolen gasoline
President Claudia Sheinbaum dropped the bomb today: tomorrow there will be a joint press conference to explain the seizures of illegal fuel and the “very very relevant” arrests that federal forces have made.
“The Secretariat of Security is going to hold a press conference together with the Prosecutor’s Office on this particular issue of fuel smuggling. So, if you allow us, in this conference we can give the answers to all these issues… There have been very, very relevant arrests,” he expressed.
How relevant? That’s just what they want us to wait until noon tomorrow to find out. Convenient timing, right?
The Secretary of Security has already warmed up his engines
Omar García Harfuch, head of the SSPC, announced in the morning that the issue is a “priority” for Sheinbaum. He said that in the last 72 hours there were important operations.
“Including more than 20 searches with the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic in different entities of the country on instructions from the president. Tomorrow we are going to give a conference at noon,” he mentioned.
Twenty searches in three days sounds like a strong movement. But here comes the good thing: they always announce the blows when they have passed. Never before, so as not to scare away the big fish.
The authorities insist that this collaboration between Security and the Prosecutor’s Office is “fundamental” to combat the clandestine gasoline business. The recent arrests would be part of a broader strategy.
It sounds good on paper. The real test will be to see if these operatives have important names and surnames, or if we end up with the same old ducks while the big bosses remain so calm.
Tomorrow at noon it’s time to see the show. And listen closely to what they do say… and above all, what they don’t.
