The FIFA Fan Festival Nuevo León concluded after 40 days of activities. Cumulative attendance reached 2.5 million people. According to organizers, it is the largest public event in the state’s history.

The festival was held in Parque Fundidora. Families, young people, girls and boys, as well as national and international visitors gathered to live the World Cup experience outside the stadiums.

According to the official statement, the volume of attendees is equivalent to approximately 10 editions of the Pa’l Norte festival. The figure reflects the unprecedented magnitude of the project for the entity.

Financial and operating model

The festival was co-promoted and co-financed by Parque Fundidora and the Monterrey Organizing Committee for the 26 FIFA World Cup. The operation was carried out by Apodaca Group.

The organizers highlighted the implemented model, which generated its own income through tickets, sponsorships, food, drinks and other commercial activities. The final financial balance will be known after the closing and reconciliation of income and expenses, but the preliminary results point to a significant recovery of resources, without representing a cost for the Central Government of the State of Nuevo León.

During the six weeks, Parque Fundidora hosted match broadcasts, fan experiences, gastronomic offerings and an artistic program with performances by Chayanne, Imagine Dragons, Grupo Firme, Enrique Iglesias, R3hab, DPR Ian, Jumbo, Caballo Dorado, Los Payasónico and Carín León, who closed the festival.

“Nuevo León showed that it can think big, coordinate big and execute big. Our challenge was to ensure that the World Cup did not just stay within a stadium, but reached all our people,” said Bernardo Bichara Assad, president of the State Coordinating Committee and the Board of Directors of Parque Fundidora.

Alejandro Hütt Valenzuela, FIFA Host City Manager of Monterrey, described the festival as a success story of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and considered that its model could serve as a reference for future editions. Jesús Flores Elizondo, executive vice president of Apodaca Group, stressed that the project demonstrated that collaboration between government, private initiative and international organizations can generate world-class experiences with high social impact and financial responsibility.

The success was attributed to the coordinated work between the three levels of government, Parque Fundidora, the Monterrey Organizing Committee, Apodaca Group, sponsors, artists, volunteers, security forces and emergency services. Nuevo León thus concluded one of the most important celebrations of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and left a precedent for its capacity to host massive events of international scope.

The Mexican ambassador to the United States, Roberto Lazzeri, held a meeting with the director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Robert Cekada. On his social networks, Lazzeri described the meeting as “productive” and noted that both parties reaffirmed their commitment to working together for the security of both nations.

“A mutual and differentiated responsibility that we will continue to promote with results,” wrote the diplomat.

Sheinbaum’s call on Disarmament Day

On July 9, within the framework of the International Day for the Destruction of Firearms, President Claudia Sheinbaum led the program “Yes to Disarmament, Yes to Peace” in the atrium of the Basilica of Guadalupe. Before ecclesiastical authorities, he called to stop the flow of weapons and asked Mexican families to hug their sons and daughters.

Sheinbaum reiterated that most of the weapons that enter the country come from the United States. “75% of the weapons that have been seized or delivered in Mexico come from the United States. Security and peace are shared responsibilities,” he declared.

“We will continue to insist firmly and respectfully on the need to stop illegal arms trafficking,” he added.

Results of the Trump administration

A day later, the United States ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson, disseminated the results of Donald Trump’s administration against arms trafficking on social networks. It reported the seizure of nearly 50,000 firearms and the seizure of almost 2.9 million cartridges, in addition to more than 10,000 arrests linked to that crime.

“Under the leadership of Donald Trump and President Claudia Sheinbaum, our countries continue to work together to make both nations safer,” Johnson said.

The National Electoral Institute (INE) managed to stabilize the manufacturing of the new model of the Voting Credential. Starting this week, waiting times will begin to gradually decrease, the agency reported in an official statement.

Up to date production and reduction of deadlines

During the first seven weeks of the new contract, effective from June 1, 2026, the INE requested 2 million 415 thousand 191 credentials. Of that total, 2 million 9 thousand 877 have already been distributed to the Citizen Assistance Modules (MAC) throughout the country.

Now the production attends to the procedures carried out the day before. This allows us to begin the progressive reduction of delivery times, with the aim of returning to the usual range of six to nine calendar days.

The new contract began with a delay of 423,109 credentials, due to high demand and the exhaustion of the maximum volume of the previous contract. To guarantee the quality and security of the document, production started gradually: on the first day, 2 thousand credentials were manufactured and increased until reaching, on June 10, the contracted capacity of 90 thousand per day.

Safety standards and call to citizens

The INE stressed that this adjustment phase made it possible to verify each stage of the process and ensure the security elements of the new model. Although it was necessary to temporarily extend delivery times, once production stabilized, the institute works to meet the committed deadline.

The organization urges those who have requested registration, replacement, renewal or update to check the status of their procedure through official channels before going to a module. The gradual standardization reflects the commitment to offer a reliable, secure and timely service, maintaining the integrity of the credential, the most used identification document in Mexico.
