Musical opening with a flavor of criticism

Michael Bublé took the stage at Toronto Stadium this Friday morning to open the World Cup in Canada. Although FIFA had confirmed his presence weeks ago, his performance disconcerted many spectators.

Instead of a Christmas song—his usual signature—the singer performed a version of “Bring It On Home to Me”by Sam Cooke. The reaction on networks was immediate.

“I just saw Michael Bublé singing on TV and he’s not trying to sell a Christmas album. I’m very confused,” commented one user on X.

Others were more direct: “Who cares about Michael Bublé?” And there were some who joked that they had “thawed” him ahead of time. Confusion grew because some expected him to share the act with Alanis Morissette. In the end, she and Alessia Cara also joined the show.

Bublé appeared in the center circle of the stadium shortly before the opening whistle between Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Their musical number was brief but caused a flurry of memes and divided comments.

Between humor and criticism, the Canadian singer’s performance is already a topic of conversation. FIFA opted for a well-known face, but not everyone was convinced.

A jacket with a message

Actress Regina Blandón attended the opening of the 2026 World Cup at the Azteca Stadium. He wore a jacket with two legends: “In Mexico there are searching mothers” and “Mexico, 133 thousand missing.” His gesture divided opinions on social networks.

Blandón, known for her role as Bibi in “La familia P. Luche,” explained that she does not believe that excitement about soccer should cancel out outrage over the crisis of disappearances in the country.

“We don’t ask that you stop watching football. We ask that you don’t stop watching us. I like football… I want to celebrate and not at the same time.”

The actress published a message where she acknowledged that the search mothers marched through Tlalpan with shovels and photos of their unlocated relatives. “I think we can celebrate the goals without forgetting those who have not returned home,” he wrote.

Divided reactions

The comments were immediate. Some applauded his consistency; others criticized her for speaking from privilege. Blandón responded that they gave him the ticket, but that does not mean he should remain silent.

“Of course I speak from privilege… but my enormous privilege does not cloud my empathy… talking about the cause from there gives it visibility, which is what matters.”

During the match, the search mothers protested near the stadium. They chanted: “Mexico champion in disappearance!” The authorities tried to contain the demonstrations.

Blandón concluded that she will continue to be honest and consistent, despite those who prefer to point out before acting.

“Now there is a lot of conflict with Rosario, with her blood and that is interesting, it gives a little more meat to the story and maybe people don’t want to see that, but hey, the perfect family doesn’t exist,” says Samantha.

Rubí faces the world that Rosario tried to avoid her. The mother does not want her daughter to choose that path, but circumstances lead Rubí to use weapons and participate in armed confrontations, believing that it is the best for her.

“Now Rubí is in the world that Rosario faced, whom circumstances took her there, but Rosario does not want her to choose that path and so the conflict is created,” the actress adds.

What’s next for Samantha Acuña?

After the premiere, the actress awaits the release of the film “Game Over”—a horror story where a monster comes out of a video game—and the soap opera “Collision”, which will arrive on HBO Max this year and revolves around a rich family.

“In the film there is something strange in a video game that makes things happen in real life and in ‘Collision’ I am the traitor, the bad vibe,” the actress advances.

The fifth season maintains the style of drama and action that characterizes the series, with a new focus on family relationships and their consequences.
