In the middle of a political rally, Senator Raúl Morón Orozco appeared before the Michoacán Prosecutor’s Office to testify about the criminal complaint filed against him by the municipal president of Uruapan, Grecia Quiroz, for the murder of Mayor Carlos Manzo Rodríguez.
The appearance became a campaign event for the 2027 elections. Morón Orozco stated before the media that the accusations as an alleged intellectual participant in the crime seek to “stain his honor” and have a political use. Before his supporters, he pleaded not guilty.
On social networks, Quiroz reacted:
“How good it would be if by presenting himself to the Prosecutor’s Office the case of Carlos Manzo would be closed and it would be known who ordered him to be killed.”
And he added:
“They are traitors to the people of Michoacán, but justice will come.”
The mayor, Manzo’s widow, has maintained her position of demanding justice. Senator Morón is not the only one cited; Previously, former mayor Ignacio Campos Equihua and federal deputy Leonel Godoy Rangel declared.
