The Senate of the Republic recognized the Original Banda El Limón, by Salvador Lizárraga, for its more than 60 years of experience and its contribution to regional Mexican music. The ceremony brought together legislators and representatives of the Sinaloa group.
A cultural legacy
The president of the Senate, Laura Itzel Castillo Juárez, highlighted the cultural importance of the band. He pointed out that his music has accompanied generations of Mexicans and highlighted the role of artists in preserving the country’s traditions. As part of the tribute, he asked to begin the work of the Permanent Commission with a performance of The right of antiquity, one of the most representative songs of the group.
Senator Luis Alfonso Silva Romo, organizer of the event, stated that the Original Banda El Limón is one of the most important groups in Mexico. He highlighted that his music has transcended borders to become an international reference.

Juan Luis Barbosa Lizárraga, current director of the band, thanked him for the recognition. He pointed out that behind the group’s trajectory there is a constant effort to bring Sinaloa music to different stages around the world.
