The Venezuelan actress wants to leave her mark like the great bad guys in history
Scarlet Gruber knows it: there are villains who become legends. Catalina Creel, Soraya Montenegro… names that give chills and that have crossed generations. That’s why, when it was her turn to play Kiara Salerno in “Doménica Montero”, she didn’t want to stay in the bad cliché of “badland”. I wanted more.
“I have mixed feelings, because it is a character that was very special to me and to which I am sad to say goodbye, but it also fills me with gratitude to have been able to play him,” he confessed.
Kiara made life impossible for Doménica (Angelique Boyer) because she felt like her family’s affection was being stolen from her. But Scarlet doesn’t judge her: she understands her.
“For me it was very important to humanize Kiara, and not make a villain who remained cliché, who was bad from the ‘badland’, but who had nuances and light within the darkness that surrounded her. I think Kiara suffered a lot during her childhood, that she never felt recognized.”
And the best: the character had a comical touch. His expressions, his stylish mischief… everything added up to get the audience hooked.
“It is a project in which I had fun, in which I challenged myself and which enters the list of my favorites. Doménica Montero gave me many things, I think the most important was recovering the fun of my career.”
Scarlet can’t stop thanking her co-stars. Angelique Boyer, Marcus Ornelas and especially Brandon Peniche, who played Genaro Peña.
“For me he is a super talented and very generous companion. Genaro is my favorite character in the entire novel, since I read him I said, what a great character… Brandon gave him a magic and charisma that are innate in him.”
The plus? The production decided not to copy the previous versions (“La Dueña” and “Soy tu dueña”). They updated the script, delved into secondary stories, and the audience applauded it. Scarlet leaves happy, with a full heart and the certainty that Kiara already has her place among the great villains.
