Salma Hayek, the current Mrs. Pinault, posted on her Instagram some photos so idyllic that they even made us question whether we are failing in our own family relationships. “I’m a proud mom,” wrote Linda (yes, the ex), as if celebrating your ex-husband’s son with his new wife was the most normal thing in the world. Or could it be that the support check includes mandatory smile clauses?
But Salma was not far behind. The next day, he shared his own tribute to “Augie” (a nickname that, let’s face it, sounds more like a lapdog than a millionaire teenager): “We are so proud of you…”, he wrote, along with an image where everyone poses as if they were in a “How to Survive a Divorce with Class” catalogue. That, or they were just celebrating that Augie will finally stop spending the family fortune on video games.
The most ironic thing of all is that, while the rest of the world is fighting over custody of a cat, these three people—a mogul, a supermodel and an actress—have achieved the impossible: a smile in sync. Will it be the money? Fame? Or simply the fear of a paparazzi capturing their scowl? Who knows. The truth is, if this is the “modern family”, maybe we should take notes… or at least save our therapists’ bills.
