Ricky Martin lights up CDMX with party and nostalgia
On Saturday night, the Fray Nano Stadium was transformed. It wasn’t the biggest forum, but Ricky Martin filled it with 20 thousand souls and top-notch production. The Live 2025 tour started here, in Mexico City, for a very clear reason for him.
“We have started this little tour in Mexico because it is something important to me. You have been part of my story… Mexico and Puerto Rico united by music.”
The appointment was at 8 pm, but the show started an hour and a half late. There were some hisses of impatience. Everything changed when the lights went out and images of the Puerto Rican appeared on the giant screens. The party exploded when he appeared on top, dressed in black, to the rhythm of “Pégate.”
Fireworks, choruses and pure charisma
Fireworks, impeccable choreography and that charisma that never expires did the rest. “Maria” sounded like the first day. Ricky mixed the songs that made us dance in the 90s and 2000s with his current energy.
There was time for romance with “Vuelve”, sung at the top of our lungs by the stadium. And then, the playlist to lose your mind: “Shake Your Bon Bon”, “La Bomba”, “She Bangs”. The screams didn’t stop.
Fans had their magic moment during “Maybe,” singing it in one voice. Ricky responded by making a heart with his hands towards the audience.
But not everything was perfect. Halfway through “Your Memory,” the music stopped.
“There is a technical problem and it is not fair to you that it is heard badly, allow me to do it one more time? Now perfection is just for you.”
And so it was. He repeated it without fail.
If anyone doubted their roots, the songs made it clear: “La Mordidita”, “Por Arriba, Por Abajo”, “Vente Pa’ Acá”. At 54 years old, his movements on stage are a declaration of love for dancing and his physical condition.
The farewell came with thanks, but the public wanted more. The encore included the hymns: “Livin’ La Vida Loca” and “La Copa de la Vida”.
“It was a wonderful night, especially for your energy, for your affection, for your love and for your strength, I adore you Mexico,” were his last words.
The tour continues. After a second show in CDMX, Ricky Martin will take this party to Guadalajara, Monterrey, Chihuahua, León and Mérida. The madness continues.
