The night that Ricardo Montaner reminded Mexico why he is a legend
On Tuesday, the National Auditorium vibrated as in its best times. It was 10 to 9, and when the Venezuelan appeared in his black tuxedo, without a bowtie, and with those white tennis shoes that are now his signature, the audience let out the first scream of the night. It opened with “I who loved you” and, believe me, everything was already said.
The 90s came back with everything. “It will be”, “Where does love go”, “Blue Castle”, “The power of your love”… People chanted every note. Montaner, without a script, blurted out: “I don’t have a written speech, I just let it flow. And judging by this, it may be one of my best nights.” Spoiler: I was right.

And just before leaving, the news arrived: new date in CDMX for August 4. The “Last Return” tour is getting longer, and no one is complaining.
The most intimate moment. Montaner sat with a cup of hot tea, as if he were in a bohemia with friends, and sang classics like “Sólo con un kiss”, “La mujer de mi vida” and “Ojos negroes”. The connection was so real that even those who weren’t crying did.
Then came the party: “Cachita” and “La Conga” made even the most serious ones dance. The cry of “another, another” was heard loudly, and when Montaner returned after “I’m going to miss him,” the love was palpable.
The new thing also caught on. He announced “Para que seas happiness”, his collaboration with Edén Muñoz in the Mexican regional, just two weeks after its release. And the public received it as if it were a timeless classic.
The closing was with “Let me cry”, “Gloria de Dios” and “So enamored”. People standing, applauding non-stop. Montaner, excited, shouted: “Thank you Mexico!”, handed out t-shirts and danced away. 38 years of history, and it seems that it is just beginning.
