The clock is ticking in the Senate
The president of the Upper House, Laura Itzel Castillo Juárez, announced that the reduction of the work week is finally in the final stretch. In his words, the Constitutional Points Commission is fine-tuning the final details of the opinion.
“The president of the Commission… has reported that they are already in the final adjustments, so I consider that it will soon be discussed in plenary”
This means that after so much debate, the project to modify Constitutional Article 123 could reach the Senate floor soon. Castillo anticipated that on the 3rd and 4th initiatives will be presented and information on possible rulings will be reported.
More than hours in play
Meanwhile, the Senate will also be pending another delicate issue: vacant seats in the Circuit Courts. The judicial administration must communicate who will occupy these positions as magistrates.
The president also announced a meeting with Ignacio Mier Velazco, new president of the Political Coordination Board. The objective is to promote a reform to the Senate regulations that incorporates gender language and guidelines for debates.
And there is an interesting symbolic detail: Zenaida González will participate in an upcoming session, who will issue a message in Tzotzil from the tribune. A gesture towards linguistic diversity while discussing structural changes.
