PVEM demands to expand Operativo Enjambre to 36 conflictive municipalities

The Mexican government announced legal actions to protect its citizens in the United States. The Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Velasco Álvarez, reported that 17 compatriots have lost their lives in incidents related to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE).

Of that total, 14 died while in custody in detention centers. The other three died during immigration operations. The information was revealed during an announcement about strong measures to defend the human rights of Mexicans abroad.

Actions of the Mexican government

Among the notable actions, criminal complaints will be filed with the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) to clarify the circumstances of each death. Velasco Álvarez stressed the need to investigate these events and demand accountability from the US authorities.

The Mexican government seeks to guarantee that the rights of its citizens are not violated during immigration processes. The complaints are part of a broader strategy to address the situation of Mexican migrants, especially those detained by ICE.

So far, no additional details have been released about the specific cases or the status of ongoing investigations. The Foreign Ministry reiterated its commitment to the protection of Mexicans abroad and the monitoring of these incidents.

Outstanding economic results

Senator Olga Patricia Sosa Ruíz, from Morena, highlighted twelve economic results presented by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. According to the legislator, these data confirm a stable and efficient performance of the national economy, with responsibility in public spending and increased investment.

Among the most relevant indicators, Mexico is located in the top ten for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). In addition, it ranks first in minimum wage increases among OECD countries since 2018, and has the second lowest unemployment rate in the same organization.

In June 2026, a historical record for formal jobs was recorded: more than 22 million affiliated positions, of which more than 9 million correspond to women. Inflation is declining, at 3.6%, the lowest level in eight months. Family consumption maintains a positive trend.

Impact in Tamaulipas

Sosa assured that these policies translate into greater opportunities for Tamaulipas. He highlighted the coordination between the governments of the Fourth Transformation, the union and business sectors to achieve, among other things, the increase in the minimum wage and the expansion of welfare programs.

The strategic location of Tamaulipas strengthens the commercial relationship with the United States. The exchange between both countries reached 839 billion dollars, which confirms Mexico as its main trading partner.

The senator also highlighted that industrial activity reached its highest level since 2024, which reinforces economic growth in the region.

Economic indicators: solidity and well-being

President Claudia Sheinbaum presented 12 indicators that reflect the positive performance of the Mexican economy, attributing the results to responsibility in public spending, macroeconomic stability and Mexican Humanism.

“Being very responsible in public spending and public investment, that is the first; the second, guaranteeing macroeconomic indicators; and the third is Mexican Humanism,” he said during the morning conference.

Sheinbaum recalled that the minimum wage went from 2,800 pesos per month in 2018 to more than 9,400 pesos currently, an increase of 122% recognized by the OECD. He highlighted that without this increase there would be no purchasing power, and that the Wellbeing Programs activate internal consumption.

Key data

Among the indicators presented, Mexico is among the 10 countries with the highest Foreign Direct Investment, with 41 billion dollars captured. It ranks first in the OECD in real wage increases since 2018 and has the second lowest unemployment rate in the organization, at 2.7%, only behind Japan.

The Secretary of the Treasury, Édgar Amador Zamora, explained that trade with the United States reached a record of 839 billion dollars, and total exports amounted to 723 billion. Fixed investment grew 5.9% annually, private consumption increased 2.1% and inflation fell to 3.6%, its lowest level in eight months.

The director of the IMSS, Zoé Robledo Aburto, reported that as of June 30, 22 million 779 thousand 704 formal jobs were registered, a historic figure. The base contribution salary reached 669.1 pesos per day, with an annual growth of 6.4%. Of the total positions, 9.1 million are occupied by women, and 237,627 digital platform workers have been hired.

Sheinbaum concluded that these results show a reduction in inequality, with 13.5 million people lifted out of poverty during the administration.
