The match where the goal had more suspense than an episode of “La Rosa de Guadalupe”
Oh, what a surprise. Pumas Femenil beat Necaxa at the Estadio Olimpico Universitario, because, of course, what better place for a football drama than a stage that has already seen it all? The Auriazules achieved their second victory of Apertura 2025, although not before making their fans suffer as if they were the protagonists of a low-budget thriller. The final score: 1-0, because why score more if one is enough, right?
First half: Is this football or a yoga rehearsal?
The first half was as exciting as watching paint dry. There was a lack of intensity, the players seemed more concerned about not sweating their hair than about creating danger. Few emotions in both areas, because, apparently, the ball was afraid to get close to the goals. Strategy? Caution? Nah, just a game that badly needed a caffeine shot.
Second part: When the goal was hiding like a cat up for adoption
For the second half, Pumas decided that, well, maybe they should try to win. They advanced lines, showed some dynamics and, oh miracle, they began to generate danger. The felines had more clear opportunities than a politician in an election year, but their aim was as precise as a weather forecast. They failed, they failed again, and it seemed that a tie was inevitable, like taxes or Gatell memes.
Until, at minute 76′, Silvana Flores appeared, the unexpected heroine, to send the ball to the back after a series of rebounds that would have made the scriptwriters of “Woman, real life cases” cry with emotion. Was it nice? No. Was it effective? Completely. Pumas was able to increase the lead, but, let’s be honest, why complicate life? One goal was enough for them to take the three points and maintain their perfect pace in the tournament: two games, two victories. Invincible? Let’s not get excited, but for now, at least, they don’t smell like failure.
What’s next? Pumas Femenil will continue its path in the Apertura 2025, while Necaxa wonders if they should practice corner kicks more. And we, the spectators, will continue here, laughing (or crying) at the follies of women’s football.
