Xalapa, Ver.— The governor of Veracruz, Norma Rocío Nahle García, confirmed that the public transportation service in the metropolitan area will continue to operate with the same routes and rates, now under a mixed scheme that will operate in parallel between the concessionaires and a state mobility company called Ulúa.
Interviewed prior to her participation in the Morena Council session, the state leader clarified that the new company will be owned by the State and that its launch will not imply immediate changes in fare collection or in the working conditions of the drivers.
“It will continue the same as they were working: same routes, same salary and same payment,” he stressed.
Nahle García explained that the staff of operators will be made up mainly of drivers who were already providing the service and chose to join the new scheme, as well as new applicants who have responded to the call opened by the state government. He indicated that in just the last few days around 70 people came forward to join the project, which he described as a positive response.
He specified that the implementation of the Ulúa company will be limited, for now, exclusively to the metropolitan area, ruling out its immediate extension to other municipalities of Veracruz. Likewise, he warned that sanctions will be applied to those who do not respect the authorized rate, while highlighting the good response of citizens to this measure.
The governor assured that the process has been developed with dialogue, care and a sense of justice, both labor and social, highlighting the coordination with the concessionaires and the acceptance of public transportation users.
“It has been a careful issue, with labor and social justice, and the dialogue has been good with everyone,” he said.
Finally, he reiterated that the new public transportation system involves adjustments and constant work, but stated that the project is progressing positively and has the support of citizens.
