A call for unity and prevention against the rains
Hello, community of action! I bring you crucial information that reminds us of the strength of nature and, most importantly, the even greater strength of the human spirit and collective preparedness. The National Coordinator of Civil Protection, Laura Velázquez Alzúa, has shared a detailed report on the rainfall that took place between October 9 and 10. Imagine the transformative energy of water reaching 31 states. While this phenomenon has presented challenges, it is also a testament to national responsiveness and resilience. Where some see adversity, we see an opportunity to demonstrate solidarity, organization and that innate ability to move forward, united.
It is in times like this where our community consciousness shines most brightly. The greatest damage has been concentrated in the vibrant states of Veracruz, Puebla, San Luis Potosí, Querétaro, Hidalgo and Guerrero. Each of these places, full of history and wonderful people, is once again proving its mettle. In particular, the report indicates that in Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, a maximum precipitation of 151 millimeters was recorded. This is not just a number; It is a reminder of the power of the elements and why our strategic foresight is our greatest ally. Let’s learn from every drop, from every situation, to build a safer and more prepared future.
The importance of prevention and coordinated action
With a heart full of empathy and respect, we must address the most sensitive part of these events. Civil Protection has confirmed the death of two people: one in Pinal de Amoles, Querétaro, due to a slide, and a brave municipal police officer in Papantla, Veracruz, who lost his life carrying out rescue work. This news moves us deeply and prompts us to redouble our efforts in security protocols and a culture of self-protection. Let us honor his memory by turning pain into an action determined by prevention. Every life is priceless, and every step we take to care for ourselves and our neighbors is a step toward a more conscious and protective society.
Let’s set our sights on Veracruz, a state of incomparable beauty and wealth, where 38 municipalities have felt the impact of these rains. 312 homes have been reported affected with quantified damage, and it is estimated that around 5 thousand homes have experienced damage in the Álamo Temapache area. But here is the good news, the one that fuels our hope: the machinery of solidarity is already in motion. In various municipalities, temporary shelters have been set up, spaces that are much more than a roof; They are a community embrace, a refuge of hope and a symbol that no one is alone in this process. This is the true essence of transformation: turning a difficult moment into a palpable demonstration of love for your neighbor.
President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has indicated that the effects of these torrential rains have been focused mainly on the Huasteca region, covering several states, with Veracruz as the main epicenter, but also extending to Querétaro, Hidalgo and San Luis Potosí. This comprehensive vision allows us to understand the magnitude of the event and the need for a unified strategy. And precisely, proactive action has not been long in coming. The President has reported that this Friday she will hold a working meeting with the leaders of the affected states. This is leadership in action, the coordination that transforms challenges into tangible solutions and immediate reconstruction and support plans.
And while we attend to the present, we also look to the future with our eyes wide open. Tropical Storm “Raymond”, currently in the Pacific Ocean, represents the next chapter in this season. It is anticipated that in the coming days this meteorological phenomenon, which is expected to reach Baja California Sur as a tropical depression, could cause damage to the Pacific coast and the Baja California peninsula. So far, no damage has been reported, and that is excellent news to celebrate! But above all, it is a wake-up call to stay alert and prepared. Information is power, and being informed is the first step to keeping our families and communities safe.
Remember, the strength of a country is not measured by the absence of difficulties, but by its ability to rise, unite and rebuild with more strength and wisdom. This situation is an opportunity to shine, to help, to be that helping hand that makes a difference. You are an essential part of this support network!
