A transfer that smells like a disguised adjustment
The employees of the Federal Labor Defense Attorney’s Office (Profedet) did not receive a relocation order. They received a fait accompli. Since January, they were moved without papers or formal explanations from the headquarters building in Doctores to the offices of the Federal Conciliation and Arbitration Board in Azcapotzalco.
“The change was communicated only verbally,” the workers denounce.
The official version speaks of administrative reasons and internal reorganization. Of course, it’s always easier to reorganize when you don’t have to show your face with a signed document. Among the staff, however, something else is rumored: that this smacks of camouflaged budget cuts or adjustments.
Public service in survival mode
The new ‘home’ is anything but functional. They share spaces with other areas, there is a lack of furniture, tools and the most basic thing: sufficient internet connection. How do you answer job queries without the basics?
The consequence is foreseeable and serious. Some have had to work remotely due to lack of physical space, which has directly affected customer service. The institution created to defend labor rights is being effectively dismantled, just when it is needed most.
It’s the old trick: suffocate a service and then argue its inefficiency. Memory is short, but patterns repeat. Meanwhile, those seeking advice encounter a wall of makeshift bureaucracy and self-inflicted shortcomings.
