Accusations and response
The local PRI representative in Sinaloa, Paola Gárate, rejected the accusations of alleged links with organized crime broadcast on a national radio program. He announced that he is analyzing legal actions against those found responsible.
The accusations were made by lawyer César Gutiérrez Priego, who stated that the legislator would have indirect connections with members of the Sinaloa Cartel through family relationships and social events.
In her response, Gárate clarified that she was godmother of a minor whom she considers part of her family, but denied knowing or having a relationship with people linked to criminal organizations. He rejected any direct or indirect link.
The legislator also condemned the fact that the identity of the minor was publicly exposed amid the accusations. He pointed out that this type of accusation crosses ethical boundaries and affects third parties unrelated to the political conflict.
