Simplification of commercial procedures
MEXICO CITY.- José Antonio Peña Merino, head of the Digital Transformation and Telecommunications Agency (ATDT), presented the Commercial Establishments Platform. The system started in April and operates in 71 municipalities.
The official explained that the requirements went from 63 to 10, a reduction of 84%. Waiting time was shortened from 60 days to immediate start.
“They obtain an acknowledgment to start activities that you can present in case the authority comes to carry out a verification. The goal is to close June with the 100 municipalities that concentrate the largest number of jobs, 50% of jobs in the country,” explained Peña Merino.
For small and medium-sized businesses, the process changes from seven licenses to the presentation of six notices and one license, that of selling alcoholic beverages.
President Claudia Sheinbaum supported the measure and called on the municipalities to join the platform.
“The objective is that in 24 hours, a small establishment can have its resolution, that it can now begin its operation without practically any procedure, and if there is any payment of rights, that it should also be done electronically,” he declared.
The platform represents progress in administrative simplification promoted by the federal government. It is expected that by the end of June it will be operational in the 100 municipalities that generate half of the formal employment in Mexico.
