Singer Oliver Tree died this Sunday morning in a helicopter accident in Rio de Janeiro. The ‘Life Goes On’ and ‘Miss You’ singer was in Brazil as part of his first world tour.

Friends, colleagues and followers have flooded social networks with farewell messages. Rapper KSI wrote:

“I can’t believe I have to write this. You should still be here. You still had so much life to live. So much music to make. So much content to make. You are a legend and always will be. It still doesn’t feel real. I feel genuinely sick. I love you, brother.”

Content creator Crawly, who is close to the artist, shared on Instagram: “Don’t leave me, ‘bro’. Forever in my heart.” He also posted a video with moments together and the phrase: “I wish I could bring you back.”

Farewells from Brazil and beyond

Brazilian trapper MC Caverinha expressed: “Rest in peace, brother.” While rapper Robbie Tripp recalled Tree’s peculiar style: “The alien boy has gone back to his planet.”

Thousands of fans also left messages such as: “It’s hard to believe that he is no longer with us, but what will remain are his songs”, “Fly high, thank you for so much”, “We love you Oliver”, among others.

So far, the singer’s team has not issued official statements. The Brazilian press reports that the investigation into the accident remains open.

Shakira’s performance at the opening of the 2026 World Cup, alongside Burna Boy, caused applause but also a wave of speculation. Thousands of users on social networks questioned whether the Colombian singer was really on stage at the Mexico City Stadium, suggesting that she could have been a double.

Appearance under the magnifying glass

Suspicions focused on his physical appearance: alleged changes in his face, hair and even his way of dancing. The constant use of dark glasses during the presentation further fueled doubts. Some followers, however, attributed the differences to natural changes or aesthetic treatments, discarding the double theory.

The controversy escalated until members of Shakira’s dance team intervened. In a video published on TikTok, dancer Ángel Fernández, along with his partner Danna Navarrete —both part of the show— flatly denied the accusations:

“We danced with her at the inauguration. Go watch our videos, they are in our stories. We have a photo with her, we talked to her. Stop saying it wasn’t Shakira, because it was her.”

Danna asked not to minimize the work of the artistic team. However, the clip did not stop the reactions. Many users remain convinced that the singer looked different, comparing this presentation with other World Cup appearances by the Colombian. Comments such as “Shakira dances amazingly but it wasn’t her who danced at the inauguration” or “And why does she look different? It wasn’t her vibe” circulated widely.

The controversy reflects how the image of celebrities is scrutinized even in the most massive events, although the evidence of the artistic team supports that the “Waka Waka” singer was present.

After the opening of the World Cup at the Mexico City Stadium sparked speculation about whether it was really her, Shakira reappeared on social media with a video in which she dances to the song “Dai Dai” and announces the start of her “Women No Longer Cry” tour in the United States.

The response from the public was immediate: hundreds of comments claimed that they had finally seen the “real” artist, not the supposed double that some pointed out during the event.

The controversy of Shakira’s “double”

During the opening ceremony, suspicions centered on the fact that the singer did not remove her dark glasses, her way of dancing seemed different, and her hair and height did not match. Memes and theories multiplied on networks. Some attributed the differences to a possible previous cosmetic procedure, which would have left his face more swollen than in videos from previous days.

Shakira ignored the controversy and posted photos from the event still wearing glasses. The comments fluctuated between humor and disbelief:

The artist, 49, thus returns to the media spotlight just before a tour that promises to be one of the most followed musical events of the year.
