The world of urban cinema and music mourns the loss of Lucas Vignale. The Argentine director, 28, died on June 14 in a plane crash west of Rio de Janeiro. The accident occurred at 8:59 local time in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes area, when two helicopters collided in the air. Six people lost their lives, including the American singer Oliver Tree and the Argentine YouTuber Gaspi.
Career and legacy
Born in Buenos Aires, Vignale was an audiovisual director and producer. His work stood out in music videos, short films and documentaries. He collaborated with key figures of urban music such as J Balvin, Bizarrap, Trueno, Wos, Nicki Nicole and Duki. One of his most recognized projects was the video “Ya me gone” in 2021.
In independent cinema, he directed the documentary “Tripolar 360°” (2024), which showed behind the scenes of the group tú señálemelo on the way to their presentation at Luna Park. He also worked with Gaspi in the short film “La Vuelta de Gaspi” and in the recording of his participation in La Velada del Año 5.
Vignale made the dramatic short “La Pasión” and co-directed “El tren fluvial” with actor Lorenzo Ferro, premiered in the Perspectives section of the 2026 Berlin Film Festival. The film narrates the frustrated ambitions of a 9-year-old boy who studies malambo in a rural Argentine town.
His last publication on social networks was on Saturday, June 13: a video with Christ the Redeemer, with the hashtag #god. Brazilian authorities continue to investigate the accident.
