The veteran actor puts his finger on the sore spot
Omar Fierro, that face that accompanied us in novels like ‘Love in Silence’, has one thing clear: he acts. Spot. It doesn’t matter if it’s for a movie screen, a theater or the vertical screen of your mobile phone.
“Well, the truth is that at the end of the day, as an actor, I act. What the script asks of me, there I have to act in front of a telephone, in front of a film camera or in front of the audience,”
He expressed with that frankness that only years in the profession give.
A direct call to producers
But his juiciest comment came when talking about the new Vix Micro format. On the red carpet, the star of ‘Destined to be the Owner’ dropped a bombshell for the executives.
“They either hire influencers or hire actors. Not all influencers are actors,”
Fierro launched, criticizing the tendency to choose internet figures more for their followers than for their real acting talent.
Their point is simple: define what you want. Content created by famous people on networks? Or stories performed by acting professionals? Because it’s not the same.
Meanwhile, creators like Diego Rodríguez and Danny Alfaro have already joined this wave of vertical microcontent. Damián Villar, from TelevisaUnivision, defends it as a natural evolution.
“The company that invented the soap opera now creates vertical melodrama… it’s a new paradigm,”
explained about the more than 80 microdramas designed for mobile phones.
Fierro is not against the format. He just asks that popularity not be confused with talent. A necessary reminder in the era of the easy like.
