Morocco once again demonstrated its strength in the world championships. With a resounding 3-0, the African team eliminated Canada and advanced to the quarterfinals of the tournament. It is the second consecutive time that it reaches that stage, after what was done in Qatar 2022.
Comeback after a difficult first half
Canada dominated the first half. They pressed high and generated options, but Bono and the lack of precision prevented the goal. Morocco suffered an injury to its forward Saibari, replaced by Rahimi. The North American team failed to score and the game went goalless at halftime.
Second half: Moroccan efficiency
In the 50th minute, a rehearsed play on a corner kick ended with a pass from Hakimi from the edge of the area. Azzedine Ounahi appeared to finish and make it 1-0. The goal forced Canada to advance lines, but the Moroccan defense remained firm. Ounahi appeared again in the 82nd, this time assisted by Brahim Díaz, to seal the match with a counterattack.
Wonderful in discount
Already in stoppage time, Soufiane Rahimi sealed the victory with a third goal at 90+8, also on the counterattack. Morocco now awaits the winner of the duel between Paraguay and France to define its rival in the quarterfinals.
