After years of preparation, the moment finally arrived. This Friday, the legendary San Siro will put football aside to welcome the world in a ceremony that promises to electrify.

Olympic tradition and Italian modernity merge in a unique spectacle. And boy do they have artists to achieve it.

The ceremony will bring together more than 3,500 athletes and 1,300 artists, with names like Mariah Carey, Andrea Bocelli and Laura Pausini setting the epic tone.

Mexico connected with the action

To not miss anything, the live broadcast for Mexico is at 2:00 p.m. on Claro Sports and Channel 9 of Televisa. It is a must see.

And speaking of Mexico, this is news that fills me with pride: it is the largest delegation we have sent to the Winter Games in 34 years. That speaks of growth and passion.

Some 3,500 athletes will fight for medals in 16 disciplines. From the speed of alpine skiing to the precision of figure skating.

Among the stellar figures will be legends like Mikaela Shiffrin and the long-awaited return of Lindsey Vonn. Young phenomena like Eileen Gu and Chloe Kim will also shine.

The mascots Tina and Milo, two stoats, are now ready to symbolize this union between city and mountain. The countdown is over. Let the games begin!

Katia Itzel García will referee Argentina in the 2026 World Cup

Mexican referee will be fourth official in the round of 16 duel.

Mexican participation in the 2026 World Cup

Mexican whistler Katia Itzel García was appointed as the fourth referee for the match between Argentina and Cape Verde, corresponding to the Round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup. The match will be played on Friday, July 3 at the Miami Stadium.

Along with her, Sandra Ramírez will be in the reserve of assistants, also by designation of FIFA. The central referee will be the Canadian Drew Fischer, with Michael Barwegen and Lyes Arfa as assistants.

This will be García’s sixth refereeing appointment in the tournament. On June 25, during the group stage, he debuted as a central whistler in the Netherlands vs Tunisia match in Kansas City. That duel ended 3-1 in favor of the Dutch team, which was later eliminated on penalties against Morocco.

For Cape Verde, known as the Blue Sharks, it will be their first participation in a World Cup. They will face Lionel Messi’s Argentina, the all-time top scorer in the World Cup. The winner will face the winner of the duel between Australia and Egypt.

The match is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., central Mexico time, and will be broadcast by Azteca 7, Channel 5 and the ViX signal.
