Olise dazzles in the World Cup prelude
Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé will not necessarily be the only ones in charge of igniting France’s attack in the World Cup. With his first touch and devastating changes of direction, Michael Olise raises his hand.
The Bayern Munich winger will be able to demonstrate his skills when Les Bleus face Senegal on June 16 in New Jersey. He comes into the tournament in great form after scoring an outstanding hat-trick against Northern Ireland, taking his tally to seven goals in 17 appearances for the national team.
“He has shone brightly this season at Bayern and has done great things for us. He exudes confidence, he is so decisive,” coach Didier Deschamps said of Olise. “In addition, as an offensive player he also has a remarkable capacity for work.”
Deschamps lined up his gala eleven and Olise was the one who stood out the most in a dazzling attack alongside Mbappé, Dembélé and the emerging star Désiré Doué. After two definitions inside the area, Olise nailed a shot into the left corner after going inside from the right wing with one of his sudden changes of play.
He does it with such skill and speed that it has become his personal trademark. The 24-year-old scored 22 goals for Bayern this season, confirming his growth.
