Mexico’s goodbye in the 2026 World Cup
The Mexican National Team was eliminated from the 2026 World Cup after losing 3-2 against England at the Mexico City Stadium. The match kept the excitement going until the end, but the World Cup dream was over.
The cameras captured several footballers in tears on the field. Guillermo Ochoa, the historic goalkeeper, remained with his face covered while he assimilated the defeat. It was an image that reflected the emotional impact of the team.
Among those most affected was a promising 17-year-old young man, who ended up completely devastated on the field. Colleagues like Erik Lira consoled him. Armando “La Hormiga” González, another of the offensive figures, did not hide his sadness either.
Julián Quiñones, one of the most outstanding players of the tournament, left the field in tears. Edson Álvarez walked with his face covered. Raúl Jiménez, scorer of the last Mexican goal, and Álvaro Fidalgo were also visibly affected.
The fans, who never stopped cheering, accompanied the crying of their players. The elimination left a deep void in Mexican soccer, but also recognition of the efforts of a team that fought until the last moment.
