President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reported that health measures will be applied in Mexico in the face of the Ebola outbreak in Africa, within the framework of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
During his morning conference at the National Palace, Sheinbaum pointed out that actions will be coordinated with the countries of origin to establish health filters that prevent infections.
“There have to be sanitary measures that are worked on with the country of origin, because obviously if there is a problem of a contagious disease, sanitary filter measures must be taken to guarantee that they will not be contagious in Mexico,” he stated.
The Secretary of Health, David Kershenobich, will be in charge of detailing the specific protocols soon. The president clarified that travel will not be prohibited, but the necessary controls will be required.
“It does not mean that they cannot travel, but it must be with all the measures that necessarily have to be taken,” he explained.
Sheinbaum stressed that his government maintains epidemiological surveillance and that the health team is attentive to the evolution of the situation.
